***First T-Storm Forecast for FSD*** Could it be SPRING?
A cold front has started pushing into the area this morning. The models all agree with it pushing through by the afternoon. The moisture is still very limited so not much as far as precip is concerned. The cold front will stall tonight just south of my area (Sioux Falls, SD) tonight and then push back north Thursday. A midlevel wave starts pushing through the middle of SD by Thursday morning but moisture remains to our west. There is another wave that pushes into central SD Thursday night but again the POP ramains to the west.
850mb Jet really gets fired up Thursday and looks as though the moisture begins to return with a strong southerly flow overnight and now thinking chance of T-storms Friday. These will be as I like to call them “Garden Variety”. I’m struggling a bit because the NAM and GFS disagree on timing of the fronts but the GFS is fastest so that is the one I’m using. Placing temps upper 50’s to lower 60’s for FSD.
