The effects of a few days of heavy rains across parts of South Dakota have wreaked havoc on many of the rivers but the Big Sioux River is near my home and one of most concern for me. Not only has she swollen out of her banks but once again the city has had to pump sewage into the river and you can smell it. I won’t blame all of the smell on that but boy does the river just carry an awful odor right now. Many areas look ok but the north side of town is really bearing the brunt of it all with access on many roads closed off.
I took a few shots near what would normally be the intersection of E. 60th St and Timberline Ave which at this point is completely underwater by a very powerful flow from the river.
I kinda like these last shots
